One of the things I’m scared of the most is having any one in our family get sick and not being prepared for it financially. Right now, only hubby and our son are covered with a health card. My daughters and I are not. We are not covered under his health card because he and I are not legally married (although I refer to him as hubby) and the girls are not biologically his.
As a work-at-home mom working as a freelancer, I don’t have an employer who can give me health card benefits. That has always been one downside of being a freelancer. A lot of the HMOs these days only offer health cards to company employees as part of their benefits. Though there are some who also offer health cards to individuals, it’s not so easy to apply.
It is for these reasons that I’ve been looking for a health card that will cover at least the expenses of medical emergencies so that we can have the peace of mind that we will be taken care of well in case something happens to me or the girls. The problem is that a lot of the health cards and insurance policies from HMO in the Philippines these days are expensive and require so many payments before one can avail of the benefits. Before you can even get one, there are so many forms to fill up, so many other documentary requirements, including check-ups. The process is just so tedious.
Thankfully, I recently came across a better option.
Have you guys heard about PhilCare? PhilCare remains a pioneer and recognized leader in the industry of HMO in the Philippines three decades after it was founded.
One of their products is called the ER Vantage card. Now before I share with you my experience on purchasing the card, let me share first the details of this product.
ER Vantage health cards come in three variants that individuals can choose from depending on their preferences and needs. For a one-time payment of P900, P1,100, or P1,300, users can avail of P40,000.00 up to P80,000.00 worth of emergency hospitalization expenses. I got their best seller which is the ER Vantage 80 as it offers private room access.
Upon text registration, the card will be activated within a 7-day period. The benefit of the card runs for an entire year where the registered can avail of the emergency hospitalization at any of PhilCare’s affiliate hospitals and clinics nationwide.
