I started doing One Word 365 last year. For 2013, my One Word was “Explore” because my mantra for the year was “Explore. Dream. Discover.” Indeed, I did explore a lot of things last year, from simple things like new restaurants, new food, new fashion, to bigger things such as a new WAHM career as a Virtual Assistant, Social Media Manager and Event Director. I’ve explored new friendships with fellow WAHMs too, something I plan to do more of this year as well.
I made sure my family did some exploring too. We explored new places to go. We actually went to our first beach trip as a family of five, to a resort we’ve never been to before. We’ve explored new ways of running things at home, new furniture, new living arrangements for the girls. Oh yeah, we’ve explored a lot.
While I’m very happy with what my explorations have brought me in 2013, I think that it’s time that I put more focus in my life. For most of 2013, I was so ecstatic that my WAHM life took off so well that pretty soon I was swamped with work and I became exhausted, frustrated and unhappy.
I’ve always been a worrywart. That’s why I always try to stay very organized. It makes me feel prepared for whatever is going to happen in the future. But things in 2013 made me realize that it’s time for me to really scale back and focus on what really matters most and the only way I can do that is to try to WORRY LESS and LIVE MORE.
What I want is to live simply. To get rid of the clutter in my life so that I will be left only with things that have the most value. That means cleaning up the house, yes. But most importantly, it also means getting rid of bad habits, things that hold me back, weigh me down or give me stress. It means doing only what is ESSENTIAL. Doing only the things I love with the people I love.
It’s not going to be easy but it’s a challenge I’m very willing to take. With that said, here’s my One Word for 2014.
Yes, I want to be more ZEN. I want to be less stressed and more calm in everything that I do. I want to learn to LET GO. I want to learn to be more PRESENT so that I can create and enjoy wonderful memories with my family. I want to live in PEACE. I want to be in the moment. After all, all we really have for sure is today.
Now, how do I plan to do that? I have a lot of ideas. I’ll update you guys. So, stay tuned for that.
